Math Journals and an Octopus!
This week is letter /Oo/. We practiced writing the letter and the two sounds that it makes. This was our first vowel, so we learned about long and short sounds. To celebrate the letter /Oo/ we made an octopus. We used cereal to stamp the letter and had fun cutting out the octopus and counting eight tenticles.
This week, we also started our math Journals. This will be a daily center activity, once we get our math stamina up. Our math Journals will be used to practice our number sense and review skills that we've learned throughout the year. We will also practice our cutting and glueing skills with our interactiveath journals.
Play-Doh Writing
We practicing writing our letters in a variety of ways. We work out gross and done motor skills, cross our midline with writing, use paper, Play-Doh, paint, stamps, shaving cream, sand and so much more. The kids are interested in using different skills and muscles with our writing.
Read To Partner
On Friday we started working on our reading skills with a partner. We practiced listening to another reader's story, showing pictures, and reading at the right voice level. Friends could read back-to- back or knee-to-knee. They were so excited to read their new book!
