Sense of Sight

We've been learning about the 5 senses. Last week, we focused on the sense of sight.  The kids tried take an eye sight test, like the ones they see in the doctor office. They were blindfolded and had to use their sense of touch and sound to open a bandaid and place it on their hand.  

The sense of touch became really important and the sense of sound helped them listen to helpful suggestions from friends.

Table Tubs

Each morning we have table tubs waiting for the kids. The tubs rotate from table to table dueing the week and are one of the favorite things during the day.  Each Monday, a new set of table tubs are brought out. 

The free play gives the kids a chance to use their imagination, work on fine motor skills, communicate with friends, work on sharing and using manners, and is a great opportunity for screen free play.

Grandparent Day

 We loved being able to celebrate Mass with our Grandparents! The kods gave tours around the school, proudly showed off the Brilliant Bee classroom, amd created a Family Tree craft.  I apologize that I wasn't able to get photos of everyone. 

Math Time

We do a lot of group work and partner work in kindergarten.  It's a great and fun way to learn as well as work on cooperation, listening skills, teamwork, conservation, etc.  Recently we worked in partners to build 10 Frames with playdoh. The kids took turns calling out numbers and the rest of the class built them on the ten frame cards. Plus playing with playdoh helps to improve fine motor skills in our hands and arms.

 

Holy Family Houses

 This past week, kindergartners received their Houses!  The kids were so excited and couldn't wait to find out which House they would be placed in. We had a big school assembly just for this special moment!
