3's--> Name Folders

     Our threes got their Name Folders and LOVED them!  We've been practicing writing our names and recognizing our name letters.  I wanted to give them something that they could practice at home with too.  The Name Folders allow the kids to point to teach letter and say the  name of the letter, trace their name with their finger on the puffy paint letters, match their letters with the letter cards, and use a dry erase marker to write their name.

3's--> Turkey Time

     You can't go through November without singing about and making turkeys!  We have been singing a song about a silly bird that only says wobble wobble and made a little puppet to go with it.  We talked about shapes as we glued our triangle beak, circle eyes, and oval wings!

*NEW* Centers

     We've worked our way through our first group of centers.  The kids had a lot of fun but I think the stamps may have been the favorite.  Here is a peek at our next group of centers.

Letter Train
We're working on recognizing our letters, our letter sounds, and ABC order.

Magnets
We get to create our own structures with the magnet balls and rods.  We can
even make 3D objects!

Number Train
We're working on recognizing our numbers, counting, and number order.

Dominos
We're counting the dots on our dominos and matching them with the other dominos.
Only matching numbers can touch each other.  We're definitely working on counting and making a strategy
so that our dominos can touch each other correctly.

Playdoh
We're having fun and working with shapes.  Plus, we're really using our fine motor skills
to flatten the playdoh and to work it into different shapes.

Beads
We're really using our fine motor skills to string the beads on to the pipe cleaners.  Some of us
even worked on our patterns as we added the beads.

4's--> Halloween Fun

     Our fours visited our neighbors at the high rise apartments in the morning.  We had a HUGE turn out!  We sang our "Five Little Pumpkins" song and got to trick-or-treat around the tables.  We took home a bunch of candy and were so thankful for our neighbors.  We can't wait to go back at Thanksgiving to sing again.

     After wards, we got to play a few games and make a fun puppet.  It was great seeing all of our mommies and grandmas!

3's- Domino Math

     We are working on counting to five in our 3 year old class.  All of the kids can count to five, but recognizing the number and being able to to have 1:1 correspondence is tough!  So we got out the big dice.  We worked with a partner and took turns rolling the dice.  We then had to count the dots that were rolled and find the correct number acorn.  If we couldn't find the numeral that matched the dots, we had to count the dots on the acorns to find the match.

     This was really hard for the majority of our threes.  To help, you can put out a pile of items.  Have your child count each item (touch the item while they are counting) and move that item off to the side.  You can also have your child make a group of 5 (or other number) from the pile of items.  Having them count and touch the items while they are counting, will help them with the 1:1 correspondence.

3's--> Dino Playdoh

     Our 3's have started the Dinosaur Unit!  We talked about how big most of the dinosaurs were.  We couldn't believe that some of their claws were taller than US!  I brought out our dinosaur plastic toys and many of the kids knew the names of the dinos--> triceratops, T-Rex, stegosaurus, anklyosaurus, pteranadon, and a few others.  To add some fun to the dino toys, we got out the playdoh and made dinosaur molds and footprints.
