We love playing games in math.
We're able to work on our math skills, social skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Today we were comparing two numbers and counting on. Each player spun two times to build their number. They needed to count up the total and compare their number to the other person's number. Them decide which number was greater and which was less.

October Family Project
For our October Family Project, the kids and their families decorated their own pumpkin. The pumpkins we're provided and the only rule was that they could not be carved. They're on display for several weeks in our hallway. Once the kids brought their pumpkins to school, they told us about how they decorated their pumpkin. They also wrote 2 sentences about their pumpkin.

Ten Not Ten
We've been working on the friends of ten (two numbers that make ten). We played a fun game where we flipped two cards to see if they made a friend of ten. We had to count the ships and total them. We're well on our way to addition!
Pumpkin Jack
We read the book Pumpkin Jack and did a little pumpkin innestigating. We predicted if our pumpkin would float out sink, we weighed it, we estimated how many seeds we're inside, then carved and counted the seeds. We named our pumpkin Jack. He will stay in our room for awhile and we'll be able to o serve the changes that happen to him!
