My Mouth Is Like a Volcano

During our household meetings, we've been talking A LOT about filling each other's buckets, being good friends and lately about interrupting.  We read the book My Mouth Is a Volcano.  Before reading the book, I took pics of the kids.  I told them to pretend they were a dragon and spitting out fire.  Then a few days later, I read the book.  The kids loved it and we talked about how it makes other people feel when we erupt (interrupt).  They all understood how it's not polite and it hurts other people's feelings.  I LOVE my class, however we have many kids who like to erupt!  Hopefully this household meeting taught an important lesson that will stick!
After we read the book, the kids cut out their pics from earlier this week.  They then had to draw themselves as though they were erupting!  They had so much fun with this part.  Afterwards, we wrote about a time that someone erupted us and how it made is feel.

Williams Tree Farm Field Trip

Our field trip was so much fun.  We enjoyed a wagon ride to see the variety of Christmas trees and nature.  We learned about the types of owls and bats that live on the property.  We got to see how the trees are flocked, how wreaths are made, see a variety of animals, pet the beautiful Golden Retriever puppies.  It may have been a little chilly but we had an amazing time.
